Hollywood actress Kim Basinger was in Brentwood Bay this week to film scenes for
her upcoming movie, The Mermaid Chair.
Filming took place
on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 23 and 24, at Seahorses' Cafe and opposite the
Brentwood Bay Lodge near the Mill Bay Ferry. The made-for-television movie is
based on Sue Monk Kidd's best-selling novel of the same name and marks
Basinger's debut on the small screen.
Basinger, who won
an Oscar for her role in the 1997 film LA Confidential, will star as Jessie
Sullivan, a woman who must choose between her family and eternal happiness after
falling in love with a monk on return to her home town. The film is set on the
fictional Egret Island off the coast of South Carolina. It is being directed by
Emmy award-winning director Steven Schachter and is expected to air in September
on Lifestyle Television.
Ms Basinger, 52,
was not available for interview.
